I offer fine Italian tailoring from Pal Zileri, Luciano Barbera, Corneliani and Belvest using cloth woven from the finest yarns by the most exclusive Italian mills such as Loro Piana, Carlo Barbera and Ermenegildo Zegna.

Many suits are available today and made from fine quality cloth. However, it is the internal construction of a truly high quality suit that sets it apart from a merely superficially attractive one. I offer only garments made solely using traditional construction techniques which guarantee fit, comfort and style.

Only entirely natural fabrics such as camel or horse hair and pure cotton are used to create the underlining and interfacing which form the framework for the suit. This is then stitched (most suits, even some quite expensive ones are glued together at this point) to the front quarters of the cloth using pure cotton thread giving the jacket its soft, natural fit and appearance.

Now known more simply as Porters, the shop has evolved into one of the finest gentlemen’s outfitters in England. I offer the type of high quality elegant men’s clothes more usually associated with the finest boutiques in London’s Mayfair or Via Montenapoleone in Milan. However I am often more unique since I take sole charge of sourcing my collections and avoid those brand names which are ubiquitous yet are presented as being exclusive.

I like to offer my clients an elegant, refined manner of dress which is developed from classic foundations yet constantly kept up to date. I also offer a complete made to measure service with the finest of details considered to ensure your garment is the perfect fit and style to suit you and your personality.

Royal Parade is located in an unspoilt Victorian part of Chislehurst which retains its Kent country village charm. The name Chislehurst is derived from the Saxon words cisel “gravel” and hyrst “wooded hill”.

Royal Parade has approximately 20 independent shops with Pizza Express and a friendly 15 room hotel and public house making up our quaint tree lined parade. We cater for a great variety of daily and specialist needs with a hair and beauty spa, luxury delicatessen, art gallery and bespoke jewellers to name but a few.

One of our local attractions is Chislehurst Caves which are considered to be of ancient origin. During World War II thousands of people used them at night as air raid shelters. There was a chapel in the caves and history says they even ran an efficient postal system in them during the war. In latter years famous artists such as Jimi Hendrix, The Who and The Rolling Stones have played there.

The Walsingham Family, Sir Thomas Walsingham and Queen Elizabeth I’s spymaster Francis Walsingham all had a home in nearby Scadbury Park, which is now a nature reserve and the ruins of the house can still be seen.

Famous residents include:

  • William Hyde Wollaston – Chemist/Physicist who discovered rhodium and palladium
  • Malcolm Campbell – former land and water speed record holder
  • Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte – President of France, Emperor of the French lived in Camden Place
